Registering

In the Netherlands, a baby should be registered at the municipality within three (week) days after the birth. For instance, when your baby is born on a Saturday, it should be registered before closing time on Wednesday. You can do this at one of the sub municipal offices of The Hague.

If you are married, or acknowledgement of the baby has been arranged during the pregnancy, your baby may be registered by your partner. This requires both parents’ passports and the birth registration form. If you are not married, you will also need a copy of the deed of acknowledgement. The birth registration form will be given to you by your midwife after the delivery.
