Infant Welfare Centre (“Consultatiebureau”)

Your postnatal care nurse will arrange for your transfer to the consultatiebureau. They will contact you to schedule an initial home visit. This visit has nothing to do with the hearing test, and usually it takes place between 2 and 4 weeks after the birth. The nurse will see how the feedings are going, and she will check whether your baby is putting on enough weight. In the days before this home visit, you can call us if you have any questions or problems. After the visit, the nurse will take over the postnatal care. The consultatiebureau has an open consultation hour twice a week. You can go there, for instance, to weigh your baby. If you have any questions about your child (until he is four years old), and you want to discuss them with a nurse, you can call the information line: 070 752 67 00, Monday through Friday, 9am – 12.30, 1pm – 4.30pm. When your baby is about four weeks old, you will have your first regular check at the consultatiebureau (in Dutch).
